The Sun is a star. It might look different from the stars you see at night because it is much closer to Earth.
The Sun is made mostly of two gases:
Hydrogen
Helium
Deep inside the Sun, these gases combine in a process called nuclear fusion, creating huge amounts of heat and light.

All the planets, including Earth, travel around the Sun.
